Rehabbed Sewing Machine Base

Months ago I was at a friends house and she has the most brilliant table in her entry way! It was her grandmother's sewing machine base turned into a table, now my grandmother didn't have one to pass down but i thought this table would look cute in our spare room/sewing room so i figured it wouldn't be too hard to find one.. And I was right!

I looked and found an old Singer Sewing Machine base on Craigslist for $40. It was all rusted and not in the best condition...

After a bit of sanding and scrubbing with small metal/wire brushes I was able to lift the loose paint chips and remove most of the rust. Next I spray painted two coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black Spray paint and let fully dry.

Now that the base was complete it needed a top! Once again I turned to Craigslist and found a company that was selling fully fabricated granite remnants for cheap. I put felt squares on the top of the base and laid the granite on top, the table is so heavy I dont have to worry about it going anywhere.

My table is complete and ready for my machine or a vase of flowers!
One project down... a few more to go <3

Projects, projects, projects

It has been so long since I last had a blog, way too long! Life has been hectic with restructuring and redesigning in so many different aspects. Among all of this there has been drives across the desert, making quilts for a very special cause, and some serious crafting possibilities.
I might be late to the party but www.pinterest.com is by far the best website i have seen in a very long time. It is a virtual pinboard where one can share ideas about everything imaginable. From healthy and not so healthy recipes to brilliant ideas and amazing craft projects and home decor ideas. Its as simple as 1, 2, 3.
1. Create user-name and password (or just link to social networking site)
2. Create boards
3. Start pinning!

It is very easy to spend hours finding the most amazing ideas and then actually accomplishing nothing because you can peel yourself away from the computer.
Because of this very fact, being crazy inspired and needing to create new projects, my goal is to finish all of my current projects by the end of this year.
I will completely strip, sand, and refinish the large table and six chairs sitting in my garage (pictures soon!), restore sewing table, re decorate our spare room, refinish a beautiful pie safe for said spare room and reorganize our home office.
Lots of work ahead!
